Moving events

You can move an event to a new date, time, and/or operatory as needed.

Note: Moving events requires the "Appointment Events, Edit" security right.

To move an event

The quickest way to move an event to a new time and/or operatory on the same date is to drag the event. Do the following:

Drag the event to an open time slot on the schedule.

A confirmation message appears.

Click Yes.

If applicable, do one of the following:

If the Password - Appointment Events, Edit dialog box appears, user verification has been assigned to the "Appointment Events, Edit" task. Do one of the following:

If your user account has been granted the "Appointment Events, Edit" security right, enter your credentials in the User ID and Password boxes, and then click OK.

If your user account has not been granted the "Appointment Events, Edit" security right, have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can edit the event this one time. The overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.

If a message appears, informing you that you do not have rights to this operation, your user account has not been granted the "Appointment Events, Edit" security right. To have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can edit the event this one time, do the following:

On the message, click Yes.

In the Password - Appointment Events, Edit dialog box, the overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.

To use the Pinboard to move an event to a new time and/or operatory on a different date, do the following:

Move the partial-day or all-day event to the Pinboard.

Navigate to a different date.

Drag the event icon to an open time slot on the schedule.

A confirmation message appears.

Click Yes.

If applicable, do one of the following:

If the Password - Appointment Events, Edit dialog box appears, user verification has been assigned to the "Appointment Events, Edit" task. Do one of the following:

If your user account has been granted the "Appointment Events, Edit" security right, enter your credentials in the User ID and Password boxes, and then click OK.

If your user account has not been granted the "Appointment Events, Edit" security right, have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can edit the event this one time. The overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.

If you know the exact date, time, and/or operatory that you want to move an event to, to specify the new date, time, and/or operatory of that appointment manually, do the following:

Do one of the following:

Double-click the event.

Right-click the event, and then click Edit Event.

If applicable, do one of the following:

If the Password - Appointment Events, Edit dialog box appears, user verification has been assigned to the "Appointment Events, Edit" task. Do one of the following:

If your user account has been granted the "Appointment Events, Edit" security right, enter your credentials in the User ID and Password boxes, and then click OK.

If your user account has not been granted the "Appointment Events, Edit" security right, have a user with permission temporarily override this restriction so you can edit the event this one time. The overriding user enters his or her credentials in the User ID and Password boxes and then clicks OK.

The Edit Event dialog box appears.

Change any of the following as needed:

Close Operatory (All Day Event):

If the event will last only part of the day, but the checkbox is selected, clear it.

If the event will last the entire day, but the checkbox is clear, select it.

Note: For an all-day event, the length is determined by the starting and ending times specified for the operatory that is assigned to the event.

Event Time - To specify a different Start and/or End time, do one of the following:

Enter a time in the corresponding box.

Note: You can enter a time using various formats. For example, you can type 8a, 8am, or 8 AM; 1p, 1pm, or 1 PM; 8:30a, 8:30am, or 8:30 AM; or 1:30p, 1:30pm, or 1:30 PM.

To use the time selector, do the following:

Click the corresponding search button .

The Select Time dialog box appears.

Do any of the following:

Drag the slider left or right to decrease or increase the time.

Click the left arrow button to decrease the time one appointment unit at a time (the length is determined by the clinic's time block size).

Click the right arrow button to increase the time one appointment unit at a time (the length is determined by the clinic's time block size).

Click between the slider and the left arrow to decrease the time one hour at a time.

Click between the slider and the right arrow to increase the time one hour at a time.

Click OK.

Event Days - To specify a different Start and/or End date, do one of the following:

Enter a date in the box in a mm/dd/yyyy format.

To use the date selector, do the following:

Click the search button .

The Select Date dialog box appears.

Select the correct date.

Click OK.

Select Days of the Week:

Select the checkboxes that correspond to the days of the week (Sun., Mon., Tues., Wed., Thurs., Fri., and/or Sat.) that the event will occur on within the specified date range.

Clear the checkboxes of the days of the week that the event will not occur on. To clear all the checkboxes at the same time so you can quickly change the selections, click Clear All.

Notes:

At least one day of the week must be selected. If the event starts and ends on the same day, select that day of the week.

If you select multiple operatories and/or days for the event, Dentrix Enterprise creates separate events (one per day per operatory) and displays them in Appointment Book. Events that repeat in this manner are referred to as a series.

If you create a repeating event, be aware that, if you want to delete the whole series, you must delete each event in that series one at a time.

Operatories - Select the Operatories that you want to schedule the event in.

Notes:

You cannot schedule an event that overlaps any scheduled appointments or other events in any of the selected operatories. However, you can schedule an event that overlaps with a Perfect Day Scheduling time block.

If you select multiple operatories and/or days for the event, Dentrix Enterprise creates separate events (one per day per operatory) and displays them in Appointment Book. Events that repeat in this manner are referred to as a series.

If you create a repeating event, be aware that, if you want to delete the whole series, you must delete each event in that series one at a time.

Click OK.
